I attended the Skål International Cape Winelands Event at the Lanzerac Hotel & Spa, Lourens International Hotels.
My first impression while making my way up the driveway to the Manor House is one of stately grandeur. The Manor House is delicately lit to show off the features of the Cape Dutch 'gable', beautifully preserved to reflect its former glory.
The lawns are plush which my high heels were not quite suited for. Luckily there were pathways that led me right to the entrance to the Esquire Lounge. Walking in I felt the warmth of this elegant place that eludes heat from the fireplace. The lounge has been luxurious decorated to meet modern standards. Rich purples and oranges cover the walls and floors and is the type of interior that optimizes comfort and style. The pictures on the walls are young and vibrate and I felt that I could be in an exclusive club in Cape Town. But here I am in a 300 year establishment, in the Cape Winelands, seeped in history which makes it all the more precious.
The inner courtyard creates a sense of privacy and exclusivity that is in a class of it's own. Gone are the days of stuffy manor houses. This is chic! Beautiful people deserve beautiful places and this one is beckoning.
